TURKPA attended IPU-UN Women Interparliamentary Dialogue on Gender-responsive recovery post COVID-19

On 7 April 2021, TURKPA staff member Mrs. Suzanna Kazimova took part in the Interparliamentary Dialogue on “Gender-responsive recovery post COVID-19: Women's Economic Empowerment” co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and UN Women in an online format.

The meeting chaired by Member of Shura Council of Saudi Arabia Ms. Hoda Al-Helaissi was focused on the economic impact of COVID-19 on women worldwide, including impact on increased poverty, unemployment, unpaid care, violence against women. Participants discussed current situation and challenges facing women in different countries during the pandemic, exchanged views on gender-responsive measures should be taken to improve economic status of women, along with strengthening their social protection.

Stressing the importance of state policy to be carried out to address economic challenges arising from COVID-19 crisis, women parliamentarians shared good practices on gender-responsive measures taken to ensure women economic empowerment by adopting legislation and identifying best means to carry out legal reforms through the work of parliaments.
