On 23 November 2021, Secretary General Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er met with Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askar Shakirov.
Deputy Head of Senate congratulated Secretary General on his assumption of office and wished success in future activities. Emphasizing the significance of further development of organization and strengthening of the Secretariat, Mr. Shakirov expressed conviction that parliamentary cooperation under the TURKPA aegis will move to a qualitatively new level and readiness to comprehensively support activities of the Assembly.
In his turn, Secretary General congratulated Mr. Shakirov on his election as Vice-President of the OSCE PA. Noting the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation, Secretary General underlined the crucial role and immense contribution of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev to the integration processes among Turkic states.
The parties emphasized the significance of changing the name of the Turkic Council to Organization of Turkic States and adoption of the “Turkic World Vision 2040” document.
