On 12 June 2023, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia Gombojav Zandanshatar received the TURKPA delegation headed by Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er within the framework of the visit to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to attend the Trans-Altai Sustainability Dialogue to be held on 13-14 June 2023. Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Mongolia Zafer Ateş also took part at the meeting.
Head of Parliament touched on the close roots, commonalities in historical and cultural values of Mongolian and Turkic peoples, and noted the importance of development of cooperation with Turkic states within the framework of Mongolia's Third Neighbor Policy. In this context, he expressed the willingness to cooperate with all dimensions of Turkic cooperation platform.
Secretary General expressed his gratitude for warm welcome and invitation to take part at the Trans-Altai Sustainability Dialogue, the significant event hosted by the Mongolian Parliament aiming to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development. He talked about the cooperation processes in the Turkic world and informed on the activities of TURKPA as the parliamentary dimension of Turkic cooperation. Secretary General touched on the interaction of the Assembly with other parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation between Mongolian Parliament and TURKPA, including the possibility of obtaining observer status in the Assembly in the future.
