December 27, 2021

On 27 December 2021, Program Coordinator of the Office of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in Baku Mr. Fatih Yılmaz and his deputy Mr. Ahmet Çanga visited the Secretariat and met with the Secretary General. The parties exchanged views over the issues of future cooperation.

The Baku Office Coordinator of TİKA congratulated Secretary General on his assumption of office and informed on the activities of TİKA with the emphasis on the projects that are designed in accordance with strategic priorities such as “Reconstruction and Development of Karabakh,” “Development of Non-Oil Sectors”, “Eliminating Social Inequalities,” “Developing Our Common Values of Civilization,” and “Developing Joint Activities with Other Countries."

In the course of the meeting, Secretary General M. Süreyya Er emphasized the importance of relations between the two organizations and highly appreciated the TİKA activities implemented in various innovative projects recalling that the Baku Coordination Office, one of the first offices of the TİKA abroad, has started its work in 1994 and since then it has further strenghtened the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in diverse fields.

TİKA was first established in 1992 as an organization for providing technical assistance to support the Turkic States in Central Asia and Caucasia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Since 2002, however, in line with multi-dimensional foreign policy of Turkish Government, aid activities have been expanded to encompass almost all developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Today, TİKA works in more than 150 countries through its 62 Programme Coordination Offices located in 60 countries across 5 continents.
