On 14 January 2022, TURKPA delegation led by Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er visited the “Maarif” Educational Complex in Bishkek. During the visit, the delegation was given exposure of the Complex and provided with detailed information by the Director of School and concerned staff.
Following the conversations with primary school students, Secretary General addressed the middle and high school students at the conference hall of the Complex. Expressing his pleasure with the visit, Mr. Er pointed out the best opportunities offered by the “Maarif” Educational Complex, filtered from the experience of Turkey in the field of education. In his speech, Secretary General also underlined the importance of education for the welfare and sustainable future of the Turkic World and wished the students all the best, expressing his confidence that they would contribute to the peace, tranquility and development of science in the whole world.
The “Maarif” Educational Complex opened in 2021 aims to provide quality education in Kyrgyz, Russian, Turkish and English in line with the Policies and Procedures approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Complex consists of three separate buildings for students meeting modern requirements. The campus that has a playground, sports, music, etude classes, conference hall, library, science labs occupies an area of 15,000 square meters and 11,000 square meter enclosed area.
The Maarif Foundation, as the current flag bearer of Turkey's deep-rooted education acquis, is now active in 67 countries with 418 schools and dormitories, from simple education centers to universities, that cater to 49,823 students. Kyrgyzstan is the 46th country where the Turkish Maarif Foundation opened an educational institution. As an educational diplomacy move the Foundation has become an important worldwide brand in the few years since it set out to expand Turkey’s clout in the sector, and continues its efforts to open educational institutions in different cities of Kyrgyzstan and other countries in the region, as well.
