TURKPA and FES Office in Kyrgyzstan co-organized round table on support and development of SMEs

On 25 February 2022, with support of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, TURKPA and the Representative Office of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kyrgyzstan (FES) jointly organized a round table under the theme “Innovative activity of SMEs in stabilization of economy’s increase in post-pandemic period” in Bishkek.

The opening session was addressed by member of Jogorku Kenesh Mrs. Aysara Abdibaeva, TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er and Head of the FES Representative Office Mr. Philipp C. Jahn.

The round table included two working sessions with participation of members and representatives of Jogorku Kenesh, representatives of Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of business associations, Business Ombudsman Institution, Business Kenesh and academic circles of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In her speech, Mrs. Abdibaeva stressed the significance of the small and medium businesses in economic development. She also drew attention to the necessity of wide implementation of digitalization in SMEs and readiness of business to meet the new demands. She noted the importance of cooperation of all stakeholders on the matters of support and development of small and medium business.

Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er welcomed the participants of the round table and expressed his gratitude to the Jogorku Kenesh for the support to the TURKPA initiatives and to the FES Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan for co-organization of the event. He stressed the significance of such cooperation format with involvement of all stakeholders that contributes to security, stability and sustainable development of the country and entire region.

In his turn, Head of the FES Representative Office Mr. Philipp C. Jahn emphasized the necessity of mutual cooperation in economy stabilization and SME’s development, particularly under the current circumstances.

Representatives of business associations mentioned the existing problems in SMEs and shared their visions of problem solutions. They expressed readiness to cooperate with all parties, including governmental bodies in achievement of sustainable development of small and medium business in Kyrgyzstan.

The event was held within the framework of the TURKPA Commission on Economic Cooperation. Secretary of the Commission on Economic Cooperation took part at the round table as well.
