On 12 April 2022, TURKPA delegation led by Secretary General Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er met with Mrs. Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Mrs. Aliyeva welcomed the TURKPA delegation and expressed gratitude to the Secretary General for kind visit.

The parties informed each other on the activities of their respective institutions and exchanged views on the development of cooperation in the Turkic World, including the interaction among the Ombudsman institutions of the Turkic states.

The parties also discussed the upcoming conference dedicated to the protection of human rights in the TURKPA member states, scheduled to be held on 24 May 2022, in Baku.

Ombudsman Institution of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established in 2002. The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mrs. Sabina Aliyeva is Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Asian Ombudsman Association and member of the Board of Directors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association.
