On 1 June 2023, Deputy Secretary General Talgat Aduov took part in the international conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev entitled “Heydar Aliyev - the architect of modern independent Azerbaijan and founder of Azerbaijani multiculturalism”, со-organized by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS (IPA CIS) and Baku Branch of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).
The event was attended by parliamentarians from the CIS member states, representatives of international organizations, diplomatic corps, ministries, educational and other institutions.
The event started with opening remark by Ramin Rzayev, Director of the Baku Branch of the IPA CIS IIMDD. He gave the floor to the Head of the Department of International Relations of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilkin Mammadov to deliver welcoming speech on behalf of Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his turn, IPA CIS Deputy Secretary General Aidyn Jafarov delivered welcoming speeches on behalf of Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, and Dmitriy Kobitskiy, Secretary General of the IPA CIS.
The conference continued with speeches of participants on the theme of the event. The participants talked about Heydar Aliyev’s policy of multiculturalism and tolerance, his valuable contribution to the development of centuries-old tradition of multiculturalism and tolerance of Azerbaijan and underlined the significance of political legacy and experience of the great leader for the CIS countries and the world.
The conference concluded with the ceremony of awarding the winners of the essay competition among schoolchildren on the theme "Founder and architect of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev - 100th anniversary".
