Azerbaijani and Kazakh parliaments sign agreement on cooperation

Baku, February 20 (AzerTAc). The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan have today signed an agreement on cooperation.The document was signed by Speaker of Azerbaijans Parliament Ogtay Asadov and Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin.Prior to the signing ceremony, Ogtay Asadov has met with Nurlan Nigmatulin. Asadov expressed confidence that Nigmatulins visit would contribute to development of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan ties.

The Azerbaijani Speaker said relations between the two countries were deeply rooted in history.“After gaining their independence, both countries have walked a long way to reach the present level of development,” Asadov noted.He also praised political and economic relations between the two countries, as well as the activity of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.Nurlan Nigmatulin hailed the relationship between the two countries as ‘friendly’ and ‘fraternal’.He stressed national leader Heydar Aliyevs role in developing the bilateral bonds. “These ties are today being continued by Heads of States of both countries.” On the Azerbaijani-Kazakh strategic partnership, Nurlan Nigmatulin expressed confidence that reciprocal visits, documents signed would contribute to expanding the cooperation.He also praised Azerbaijans regional and international cooperation.The Kazakh Chairman hailed Azerbaijans support for the activity of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-Speaking countries.He said the Friendship Groups in the two countries parliaments played an important role in developing the bilateral relations.
