Turkish Parliament hosted roundtable on Good Governance

On 11 March 2014, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey organized a round table on the role of parliaments in the implementation of good governance principles and role of the legislative bodies in prevention of corruption. The round table was heldwithin the activity plan of current Turkish Chairmanship in TURKPA with participation of experts from the four TURKPA member countries.

Participants conducted deliberations and exchange of views on current achievements and challenges of the member countries in the implementation of good governance. Experts from the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey presented comprehensive information on national strategies for good governance and conceptsof improving the measures against corruptionin their respective countries.

The meeting was ended by adoption of the final report, in which participants emphasized the need to tackle the issue of good governance in the TURKPA framework that would contribute to sharing information and best practices among the member parliaments.
