TURKPA Secretary General attended the 131th Assembly of the IPU

TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Jandos Asanov attended the 131th Assembly of the IPU and related meetings took place in Geneva (Switzerland), from Monday 13 to Thursday, 16 October 2014.

The theme of the Assemblys General debate was: Achieving gender equality, ending violence against women.

The Assembly was attended by the delegations of Kazakhstan and Turkey from TurkPA member countries led by the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Reform and Regional Development of Majhilis of the Kazakh Parliament Mr. Seitsultan Aimbetov and President of the Group, Member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mrs. Fazilet Dağcı Çığlık.

On 14 October, Mr. Asanov had bilateral meeting with Mr. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the IPU. IPU Secretary General emphasized that IPU attaches utmost importance to the cooperation with regional inter-parliamentary organizations and in this context the IPU serves as a global platform for parliamentary dialogue. The parties also discussed the aspects of cooperation between two organizations, including possibility of organizing a study visit to the IPU headquarters for the staff of the TURKPA Secretariat.

TURKPA was granted an observer status in the IPU in 2010.
