First meeting of foreign policy research centers held in Baku

The first meeting of the official foreign policy research centers of the Turkic Council member states took place on 8 May 2015 and hosted by the Center for Strategic Studies of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the relevant centers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, as well as by the deputy head of the Institute for Foreign Relations and Trade of Hungary and heads of diplomatic missions of the member states and Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan.

TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Jandos Asanov participated in the meeting and spoke of the priority aspects of the Assembly’s current activities. In his speech, Mr. Asanov mentioned on the need to consolidate efforts in developing direct information exchange among the member countries and further shape of integrated information space of Turkic countries. Secretary General mentioned that foreign policy research centers could play a key role in this process that would facilitate timely exchange of up-to-date information among the countries in political, economic, cultural and other various fields. Mr. Asanov also exemplified his point with the forthcoming first European Games to be held in Baku in June 2015 and drew attention of participants to the necessity of promoting such global developments in all Turkic states and informing societies on new opportunities and advantages these events may bring to the whole Turkic world.

The meeting was ended with conclusion of the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation among Foreign Policy Research Centers of the Turkic Council member states.
