Following the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, TURKPA Election Observation Mission composed of the parliamentarians from the member states, as well as the representatives of the TURKPA Secretariat will conduct a short-term monitoring of the early presidential election to be held on 9 July 2023 in Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the observation program, the TURKPA Mission is expected to hold meetings with officials and representatives of the political parties contesting the election. On the election day, TURKPA observers will visit polling stations to monitor the voting process on the ground. On 10 July, the Mission will hold a press conference on the preliminary outcomes of its observation.
On 8 May 2023, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev decreed an early presidential election to be held on 9 July 2023. Over the last period, election-related framework in Uzbekistan has been amended. The early presidential election that follows the constitutional referendum of 30 April 2023, will be held against the backdrop of ongoing reforms in political, economic and social spheres.
